| The
Small Singing Stranger
|
|||||
| A
gentleman who approached me at a Body, Mind and Spirit fair told this
story to me. He was ex-army
and did not seem to be the sort of person who was given to flights of
fancy. His wife and
daughter, who accompanied him, vouched for his story. The man, his wife, his daughter and a friend were walking in a remote part of the Goyt valley in Derbyshire, UK. It was a pleasant day and they were all simply walking along a path, enjoying the countryside. As they walked they became aware of a female voice in the distance, singing very pleasantly. As they continued along, the voice became louder, as the singer (as yet unseen) approached. As
the voice came very close, a figure came around the bend in the path in
front of them. It appeared
to be an adult young woman of normal proportions, but she was only three
feet tall. She was
barefoot, wore a floaty, ankle-length dress and had flowers in her hair.
She was singing and dancing along the path.
The family stood to one side to watch her.
She continued past them, apparently completely unaware that they
were there and she danced away along the path.
She disappeared round another bend and her voice gradually faded
away. The family were particularly struck by the fact that she was adult, normally proportioned but very small. They haven’t been able to find any explanation for who or what the figure was. She didn’t have wings, but the family were completely convinced that she was a fairy being. |
